[ stares out the window bc you give me this opportunity and after a minute or two of chaos, the Chanseys manage to grab the gravy and fling it out the window and call upon some of the police's Growlithes to set it on fire and Minato is left there in a heap in the middle of the hallway with his wrist bend the wrong way. Maybe there's a little bone jutting out, idk how wrist fractures look like and I'm not brave enough to Google image search that. ]
[ I keep getting x-rays but after seeing those, I think I'm okay. Nanami is normally very calm, not even really freaking out during her execution, but even she is a little distressed seeing Minato's wrist like that. With the hazardous material dealt with, everyone claps and then disperses to clean up the place because the sprinklers have finished by now. No one does anything about Minato being on the ground asides from Nanami. ]
[ She bends down next to him and tries not to look at his wrist. Ouch... ]
... Pokemon Centres only heal Pokemon, not humans. We need to find you a human doctor.
[ I took courage from you and searched "broken wrist with exposed bone" and I have some real regrets, Ichi ):
Minato stares at his wrist for a moment, waiting for the shock to subside so he can feel actual pain that will make this seem more real than the overwhelming numbness that falls over him, body shutting down in a way he doesn't like. It's to protect him, he knows, but returning to numbness... ]
I don't have any money.
[ He wasted all of it on butler uniforms and bathing suits, he can't pay for treatment. ]
[ Why would you give me the exact quote to google, Card. I have regrets as well now :( ]
[ Nanami definitely doesn't have any money either, unless you count Monocoins but even then, only Hinata collected those. She only has video games, so would the doctors take those? Well, if they don't, she just needs to go into any store and sell them for money. You could sell anything to random people and they'll give you tons of cash. ]
Mm, I guess I could sell some of my games...
[ It'd be hard to part away from them (assuming that they're even okay and that they work in her wet bag), but Minato's wrist is far more important. ]
[ What's a wrist when you have spare one? If Nanami's carrying things around with her, obviously important enough she needs to keep them out of the rain, he doesn't want her to have to pawn them off for his sake. He can sell his... shoes... maybe his watch. It'll be okay as long as it's splinted, so he leans when he walks so that his arm hangs straight down and isn't in danger of bumping into anything, and gestures with his other hand towards the door where all the Chanseys are bustling in and out making sure all these other soul monsters are okay. Minato tries not to think too hard about there being a dozen Personas and no Persona user, because the Personas probably just murdered their host or something.
He's dead! Nothing matters! He heads outside to see what it's like. ]
[ It's difficult to actually see anything outside with the heavy rain. It's pouring down hard and it doesn't look like it's going to let up anytime soon. Stepping out for even a brief second is definitely going to drench either one of them... ]
[ Nanami stares at the rain for a second before she kneels down. She needs to be prepared if they're going to go out in that rain and that means she needs to protect her games. She carefully sets down her bag and the Chansey egg on the floor before she opens the former to dig out her various handhelds and games. They're a little wet but they seem okay so that's good. Give her a moment to carefully wrap them in her hoodie before she puts them back in. In the meanwhile... ]
[ A grey blur bodyslams itself into Minato's chest. It hits like a heavy, wet balled-up towel and jumps on his shoes before it scurries into Nanami's bag. Minato is not allowed to live for causing this disaster in the first place. ]
[ Oof-- That startles him, causing him to stumble backwards away from the door and catch himself on the wall so he doesn't fall over completely, but even that much movement jars his arm and he clenches his teeth to bite back a shout of pain.
His shoes are completely covered in mud and some of it drips inside. ]
Hey—! Uh...
[ Introductions are for losers, what if he never learns Nanami's name ]
Something just jumped into your bag. Be careful...
[ He kneels down and inches a hand forward to pinch the edge of the fabric to the largest pocket where that Shadow blob had slipped inside. It did look a lot like a Shadow, and he shouldn't be surprised they exist at the same place pink blobby Personas do, but it really is disconcerting to know they still exist even after all he sacrificed to keep them from bothering humanity anymore. ]
[ Thank goodness that Nanami took out all of the contents of her bag before this soaking wet rag jumped in. It could have easily destroyed her belongings, especially with the way that it seemingly buries itself at the very bottom. It's hard to tell what it is but just... a blob of grey. ]
Ah, is this a Slime...?
[ Sure, there are Pokemon around, but what's to say that there aren't normal RPG monsters as well? They haven't looked around long enough for her to properly assume that this is a Pokemon world. ]
Slimes are normally the weakest monsters. Perfect for beginning heroes.
[ As Minato pulls back the fabric, a dark claw reaches out and scratches at his hand. Small soft sounds of "mii mii" are heard as it tries to flatten itself even more than it already is. ]
[ A weird grey, like he'd hit his head and his vision had become monochrome for a moment.
His hand stills when that claw reaches out, but it doesn't hurt and those sounds aren't aggressive ones, so he lowers himself until he's sitting cross legged on the ground- a stupid move for anybody who might need to get up and out of the way in a hurry, but a comfortable sitting position nonetheless- and glances over at Nanami before turning his attention back to the bag. ]
Hey, it's okay. I have a Slime in my soul too, and it's helped me out a lot in the past. Can you come out so we can meet you?
[ Nanami was going to say that there are many different colours Slimes and she can think of a few grey coloured ones, but she chooses to stay quiet when Minato begins to negotiate with the blob. Good. He has chosen to talk instead of battle. She wouldn't have wanted her bag to be destroyed in the process. ]
[ The blob no longer swats its claw around at Minato's reassuring tone, but there's a pause as if it's deciding whether or not to come out like asked. After a few hesitate seconds, it shuffles around and out appears a very wet and deflated costume of a... Pikachu? Well, it's hard to tell because the rain has caused the ink to run and it kind of looks like an entire mess. The only things that are clear are the two little eye holes cut at the bottom of the wet fabric. ]
It's a Mimikyu!
[ Despite its awful appearance, Nanami recognizes it immediately. She wouldn't be the SHSL Gamer if she didn't know this. No other Pokemon wears a costume like this so it's easy enough to figure out its identity. ]
Mm, your colour is different. Did you use a different coloured costume or are you a shiny?
[ Mimikyu just looks at Nanami and shakes its head or, well, its body since that's where the real head is. He has no idea. He hasn't seen any other Mimikyus before. They're not that many, if at all, on this island so he's a loner. He then looks at Minato and extends out the claw that's coming underneath his drapes. Let's shake hands! Sorry for scratching you earlier. He then points to the wrist. What happened? ]
[ Again, he's surprised that Nanami knows its name, and that this thing draped over it is a costume... that maybe used to be shiny? With the sprinklers having gone off and what sounds like a storm outside, it's not unreasonable to think that the cloth was once bright and shiny and just got dirty. ]
Maybe we can help get you washed up to bring some of that color back. It'd be nice to get dry ourselves, too...
[ Sorry... Nanami... He shoots her a somewhat apologetic look before taking the claw offered to him and shaking the Pokemon's hand with his non-broken wrist like it's no big deal, because it's not. Solid. Warmer than he'd thought- though he was expecting ice cold. And the concern about his wrist is a touching too. ]
Mm... This was my fault. I broke it, but it'll be okay after I find some sturdy stick to splint it with. [ Maybe Mimikyu's tail, if we're completely redoing the costume, that's about the right size. ] Let's find somewhere dry first, though.
[ It's hard to tell Mimikyu's expressions when there are only two little eye holes in the costume, but his body movements are enough. He stares at the broken wrist for a long time and then tugs on Nanami's sleeve. She doesn't seemed very bothered by the gross sprinkler water anymore, now that her concern is now placed on Minato, so she doesn't react to his apologetic look. It's fine. Her wet clothes are not a big problem compared to a broken wrist. ]
[ As Mimikyu continues to pull on her clothes, she looks down and tilts her head. He tilts his head as well but in repeated motions out the door, from the path that he came from. ]
Do you want us to follow you?
[ There's a nod. He knows a place where humans can stay! Pokemon aren't allowed in unless they're with a trainer but he can pretend that he's with them. She then looks up at Minato. She also realizes that she doesn't know his name. ]
[ A month later in the intro log they introduce themselves to everybody else and then turn to stare at each other because oh, that's what your name is. ]
Yeah, I'll be fine. Lead the way, mm... Mimikyu?
[ Is that his name? Nanami should give him a cute name, like the future Facehugger they're going to run into, because Minato sticks his head out the doorway again to see if they can take pit stops under anything on the way to wherever they're going, and all he can see in the downpour are a bunch of trees valiantly holding up as best they can in the rain, trying their hardest to hold onto the few berries that are left on the branches. ]
[ Mimikyu takes back his claw to salute. He will lead them safely! But before that, Nanami gently lifts him up so she can take her hoodie-wrapped handhelds and set them gently in her bag. She then places the Pokemon back in with the egg. ]
Keep them safe, Mimikyu-chan.
[ She will think of a cute nickname like Facehugger later. In the meanwhile, they gotta make it through this awful rain. Mimikyu will lead by pointing the way as Nanami holds her bag in her arms, making zig-zags to stop underneath trees to take a break and for him to double-check that he's taking them the right way. The inn is around here somewhere! He'll stop and think when they're under the first tree, which shakes but maybe that's just the rain and wind... Nanami certainly doesn't notice because she is out of breath. She's a gamer, not a runner. ]
[ Minato is practically a marathon runner after a year of climbing stairs and cutting monsters every night, so his frustrations revolve less around breathing and more around having to trot after Nanami and Mimikyu instead of leading like he usually does. That's a weird feeling, being able to follow for once instead of lead, but he uses the opportunity to keep an eye on things and nudge Nanami out of the way of a large puddle here or low tree branch there or
a facehugger to the face, his vision suddenly going black and body cold and numb, mind drifting and fogging over like when the Arcana Lovers...
He shakes his head quickly, dislodging the Yamask from his face and catching her in his arms. Golden eyes glare up at him and two black hands rise up from either side of the mask and squashes Minato's cheeks. ]
[ Nanami is easily nudged to the side as she's not the type to plant her feet into the ground. With the slippery mud underneath them, she nearly slips but Mimikyu grabs a hold of the tree trunk to keep them steady. He has quite the long arms. Just how big is he underneath that costume? We may never know... ]
[ Standing up straight again and readjusting the bag in her arms, she looks over at Minato. Immediately, her mood picks up again. ]
Oh, a shiny Yamask!
[ Nanami is going to do this for the entire game; just exclaiming every Pokémon's name like a glorified Pokedex. She moves closer, almost uncomfortably close into Minato's personal bubble, so she can take a closer look. She doesn't reach out to touch her and Mimikyu also keeps his hands to himself. ]
Mm, you seem to attract a lot of shinies. Your luck stats must be pretty high.
[ Mimikyu did body slam himself into Minato before going into her bag so she considers the encounter to be have started by this blue-haired fellow. ]
[ He's not all that convinced this is good luck, all things considered, but this is yet another Persona(?) that he's never seen before, though the thing does remind him of the simple blobby Maya Shadows of the early Tartarus floors. He had lots of fun chasing those around while they squealed and ran away, but this little one is pretty bold, unrelentingly squishing his cheeks even as he holds it out at arm's length. ]
Yamashk, huh...
[ He pulls his face away so he can speak a little clearer, but the Yamask just pulls his face even closer, staring at him for a moment, and then it suddenly lets go, settling back in his arms with its own hands on either of his wrists— his okay one, and his broken one too which starts to feel numb and cold as black smoke starts to pour out of Yamask's mouth. ]
Uh—-
[ Minato quickly looks to Nanami to explain, but the Haze is just ice cold and surprising, it doesn't hurt. Broken bones are unfortunately not a stat change Yamask can reverse. ]
